How to read Blackberry MEP without Cable.

(1) On the main screen of the phone, press and hold the following keys: ALT + CAPS + H (at the same time) to bring up the “Help Me” screen.

Note: For Pearl and other Sure-type phones press and hold the ALT key (Bottom left) and type E A C E. For Storm, hold the BACK arrow, and tap the screen in the following areas: TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT.

The following “Help Me” screen should come up:

(2) Type the PIN, App Version and Uptime in the form below:

There are 4 possible App Version formats that may appear on your phone. Please make sure to enter it in the correct format: (5544) (554)

*Please note that the numbers are valid to change.
Example: 100546

(3) Press “Get my Key” and our Calculator will generate a code:.

Your key is: 


Now simply type the KEY directly on to that “Help Me” screen. Nothing will appear when typing. For numbers, make sure to hold the ALT key when typing.
Important Note: If you exit the “Help Me” screen after generating your key, you will need to go back and generate a new key based on the new UPTIME value that has been changed.

The following “Engineering” screen should come up:


(4) Scroll down and click on “OS Engineering Screens”.

(5) Scroll down and click on “Device Info”

(6) Then scroll down until you see MEP-XXXXX-XXX as shown below:

This is the MEP of your Blackberry. Please write it down and send it to us.
